Bank Guarantee Return

When your family’s residence permits were issued, a bank guarantee was opened for each family member. Once your spouse receives a Cypriot passport and your children receive a new residence permit as children of a Cypriot citizen, the guarantee is no longer needed — you can close it and have the money unblocked. It takes two visits: to the migration department and to the bank.

When to apply

• Spouse, if they applied together with you — right after receiving the Cypriot passport.
• Children — after receiving the new residence permit cards, see “Children”.

What you need

• Guarantee return form — one per family member: blank form (or on gov.cy), filled-in example.
• Your spouse’s Cypriot passport and your children’s new cards.

How to apply

1. Go to the migration department in your district, no appointment needed. In Limassol — Franklin Roosevelt 223 .
2. Hand the forms to the cashier and say you need to return the bank guarantee.
3. The cashier will give you documents for the bank.
4. Take them to the bank that issued the guarantee — they will unblock it there.
